Israel recently issued new evacuation orders in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, expanding its ground invasion into an area where displaced Palestinians have sought shelter. The Israeli military claimed that rockets fired by Palestinian fighters had made staying in the area dangerous and cited intelligence suggesting terrorist infrastructure was present. This move comes after a previous evacuation order displaced at least 180,000 Palestinians in the first four days of the invasion.
Despite international warnings about the lack of safe areas, the Israeli military continued its operations in Khan Younis, leading to further displacement of an already vulnerable population. An air attack killed many people in the area, prompting a mass evacuation through various communication methods. Medical sources reported 14 bodies arriving at a local hospital, highlighting the deadly consequences of the ongoing conflict.
In addition to attacks in Khan Younis, Israel also targeted Rafah in the south, hitting numerous targets in the past day. UN agencies have condemned Israel’s mass displacement policy and military attacks in previously declared humanitarian “safe zones.” The conflict has resulted in the deaths of over 39,000 Palestinians, with thousands more wounded and missing since October.
Israel’s actions in Gaza have sparked international outcry and calls for a cessation of violence to protect civilians caught in the crossfire. As the conflict continues to escalate, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens, with displaced Palestinians facing increasing danger and uncertainty.
