Following from afar: Olympic storylines we have our eyes on


Athletes with ties to Arkansas will be competing at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, showcasing the state’s sports talent on a global stage. The University of Arkansas’ track and field stars have been dominating the national championships and breaking records, with exciting storylines to follow.

Joscelyn Roberson, a World Champion from Texarkana, will be representing the Razorbacks as a traveling replacement athlete for Team USA. The U.S. National Mountain Bike Team, based in Bentonville, will have its full quota of athletes competing this year, showcasing the skills honed on the area’s bike trails.

Ryan Crouser, a volunteer assistant coach for Arkansas’ track & field program, will be competing for his third Olympic gold in the shot put. Hunter Woodhall and Tara Davis-Woodhall, a dynamic athletic couple from Northwest Arkansas, will be competing for Olympic and Paralympic gold.

Former Razorback runner Nikki Hiltz, who came out as nonbinary and transgender, will be competing for the first time at the Olympics, postponing hormone therapy to qualify for the women’s division. Several more current and former Razorback athletes, as well as athletes with ties to other Arkansas universities, will represent their countries in various track & field, swimming, and golf events at the Olympics.

With so many talented individuals from Arkansas competing in Paris, fans of Razorback sports and supporters of local athletes will have plenty to cheer for during the 2024 Olympic Games.
