Burnsville Woman Pleads Guilty in Feeding Our Future Fraud Scheme
Hoda Ali Abdi, a 53-year-old woman from Burnsville, Minnesota, has entered a guilty plea for her involvement in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme. The US Attorney for Minnesota revealed that Abdi, who owned a grocery store in Burnsville, fraudulently sought reimbursement for $3 million worth of food that she claimed to have provided for distribution to children through the state’s federally funded pandemic nutrition program.
Operating under Feeding Our Future, Abdi was accused of providing fake invoices to her co-conspirators and falsely claiming to have served over 242,000 meals to children at her store after joining the Federal Child Nutrition Program. As a result, she received nearly $1.3 million in reimbursements from the government program, with the total losses from the scheme estimated at $250 million.
The sentencing hearing for Abdi has not been scheduled yet. In other Minnesota news, Trip Advisor has compiled a list of the 10 highest-rated state parks in Minnesota based on visitor rankings.
