Billy Joel ended his extensive residency at Madison Square Garden on Thursday evening.


Billy Joel concluded his 150th show at Madison Square Garden, ending his decade-long residency at the iconic New York City venue. He first performed at MSG in 1978 and became the first music franchise at the venue in 2013. Over the years, Joel set records for most consecutive performances and most lifetime performances, with banners raised in his honor. Throughout his residency, he was joined on stage by numerous surprise guests, including Bruce Springsteen, Sting, and John Mayer. In celebration of his final show, MSG showcased a “Defining Moments” exhibit highlighting memorabilia from his franchise run. Fans were treated to special concessions and had the opportunity to write messages to Joel at a photo station. Over 1.9 million tickets have been sold to fans from around the world during Joel’s legendary run at MSG. In addition to his solo concerts, Joel participated in benefit concerts to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy and 9/11 heroes. Joel announced his final show at MSG in a post on Instagram. Despite leaving MSG, Billy Joel’s legacy and impact on the iconic venue will continue to resonate with fans for years to come.
