Democrats across the party, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, have quickly endorsed Kamala Harris for president in hopes of defeating Donald Trump in November. However, Sanders has not officially endorsed Harris yet, stating that he needs to see more specific plans from her that address the issues faced by working-class Americans. He believes that Harris must focus on the working class and outline how she plans to support them in order to secure a win in the election.
Sanders has previously demanded commitments from President Joe Biden before supporting him, focusing on issues such as expanding Social Security and raising the minimum wage. He had backed Biden until he dropped out of the 2024 race, emphasizing the importance of key issues in his support.
Other Democrats, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have also quickly endorsed Harris in an effort to unite the party against Trump and protect American democracy. A majority of Democratic senators, House members, and pledged delegates to the Democratic convention have endorsed Harris, indicating strong support for her candidacy. Overall, Democrats are rallying behind Harris in the hopes of securing a victory in the upcoming election.
