Gopher Athletics had an eventful week with exciting news and updates. Junior sprinter Devin Augustine will represent Trinidad & Tobago in the 100 meters at the Paris Olympics, adding to the nine Gopher athletes heading to the games. Wenbo Chen will be assistant coach for USA Diving for the third time at the Olympics. Cameron McCloskey joins the Men’s Golf program as an assistant coach, while Women’s Hockey will face Bemidji State at Valleyfair for Hockey Day Minnesota 2025.
In other news, Cam Christie signed his first contract with the LA Clippers and will make his summer debut on NBA TV. Coach McDevitt threw out the first pitch at a Twins game and was a guest on the 10 Thousand Takes podcast. Men’s Hockey newcomers discussed why they chose Minnesota, and three Gophers helped Detroit City FC advance to the USL W League national semifinals.
Men’s Basketball introduced newcomers Brennan Rigsby and Isaac Asuma, while Associate Head Coach Carly Wynn bid farewell to the Softball program. Football’s Twenty Questions series featured LSU transfer Jaxon Howard and UTEP transfer Aluma Nkele.
