Rapper and singer Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been indicted in South Florida on federal charges of committing more than $1 million worth of fraud. They are accused of participating in a scheme to defraud victims of high-end specialty vehicles, jewelry, and other goods through the use of fraudulent documents. Kingston was previously booked on state charges following an arrest at an Army training base in California. His mother was arrested on the same day when a SWAT team raided his rented mansion in Florida. The federal indictment states that Kingston and Turner falsely claimed to have executed bank wire transfers for high-end items when they had not, allowing them to keep over $1 million worth of fraudulently purchased items without paying for them. State charges also indicate that they stole money and goods from various sources, including jewelry stores, banks, and a car dealer. Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Anderson, had a number one hit with “Beautiful Girls” in 2007 and collaborated with Justin Bieber on “Eenie Meenie.” Their attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, has stated that they look forward to addressing the charges and are confident of a successful resolution. Kingston was already on probation for trafficking stolen property, while his mother has a previous conviction for bank fraud.
