A global computer systems outage has hit government agencies in Minnesota, impacting 911 services and various state departments. Hennepin County emergency dispatchers had to resort to pen and paper methods to take down call details and radio emergency services. Despite the outage, 911 calls were still able to go through as needed. Social Security offices were closed statewide, with signs directing individuals to call in, but warned of delayed call times. Minnesota Information Technology is actively working to deploy a fix provided by CrowdStrike to restore state agency services, but no timetable has been provided for this process. Other agencies across the state, such as the Department of Public Safety and Department of Natural Resources, are also facing outages, impacting services like website access and online reservations. The Department of Vehicle Services is unable to offer written exams without access to computers. The outage has caused disruptions for residents and raised concerns about the reliance on technology in critical government services. Linda Fleming of Coon Rapids expressed frustrations over the impact on communication, access to vital services, and everyday activities. Residents across the state are hoping for a quick resolution to the outage to restore normal operations.
