Poll finds Biden more globally trusted than Trump

A recent poll conducted by the Pew Research Center revealed that people in 34 countries have more confidence in President Joe Biden than his challenger in the 2020 election, former President Donald Trump. The survey found that a median of 43% of respondents trust Biden to do the right thing in world affairs, compared to only 28% for Trump. This support for Biden comes amid waning faith in U.S. democracy, with a median of 4 in 10 individuals across the surveyed nations stating that the U.S. democracy no longer sets a good example for other countries to follow.

Despite the decline in global confidence in U.S. democracy, there is still more trust in Biden than in Trump, with the current president receiving higher ratings in various countries. French President Emmanuel Macron registered the highest level of confidence among the five leaders rated in the survey, while Russian President Vladimir Putin received the lowest.
This poll reflects a global trend of declining trust in American democracy, with many individuals viewing the U.S. political system as severely divided along partisan lines.

It is worth noting that while there is increased skepticism about the U.S. democracy’s ability to serve as a global model, confidence in Biden’s ability to handle world affairs remains relatively high compared to that of his predecessor, Trump. These findings suggest a shifting global sentiment towards U.S. leadership and democratic values.
