Gopher Athletics finished 40th out of 311 schools in the final Learfield Directors Cup rankings.
In NHL news, three Gophers were selected in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, former Gopher Travis Boyd signed with the Minnesota Wild, and Brady Skjei signed a seven-year contract with the Predators. Brock Faber and Logan Cooley made the 2023-24 All-Rookie Team.
Cam Christie was selected 46th overall in the second round of the NBA Draft by the LA Clippers. Basketball’s Parker Fox and Gymnastics’ Katie Horak received Minnesota’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Track & Field had four Gophers claim international titles in June.
Gymnastics stopped by Kare 11 studios to discuss the US Olympic Trials at Target Center, while Gopher Digital recapped Women’s Basketball’s Team IMPACT signing of Allie Marsh. Volleyball’s Gopher Spotlight series started with Kate Thibault, and Assistant coach Pedro Mendes was mic’d up during their spring trip to Europe.
Golfers Emma Carpenter, Grace Curran, Isabella McCauley, and Megan Furtney were named to the WGCA All-American Scholar team. Former Gopher Erik van Rooyen placed sixth in the Rocket Mortgage Classic on the PGA Tour. Softball’s Jess Oakland was featured on Bally Sports North, and Gopher Football shared a behind-the-scenes look at their summer workouts. Senior guard Femi Odukale was mic’d up during a Men’s Basketball workout.
