Trump PAC funds legal representation for Boris Epshteyn in fake electors case

New campaign finance records reveal that Donald Trump’s political action committee, Save America, made payments totaling $50,000 to the legal firm representing his adviser Boris Epshteyn ahead of his criminal trial in Arizona. Epshteyn was charged with involvement in an alleged fake elector scheme to benefit Trump after the 2020 election. The payments were made to Tully Bailey LLP, whose partner Michael Bailey has been representing Epshteyn in the case. It is unclear if the payments were directly tied to Epshteyn’s representation.

Save America has spent over $90 million on legal expenses primarily for Trump, with funds also going to other co-defendants such as Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira. The PAC has not provided financial support to other co-defendants in Arizona or Georgia. Notably, Save America paid almost $900,000 to McGuireWoods LLP representing Mark Meadows in the Jan. 6 investigation. The PAC also paid $175,000 to the law firm of Stanley Woodward, who represented Trump aides during the Jan. 6 probe.

Trump’s involvement in covering legal expenses for Epshteyn and other co-defendants has raised questions about his effort to maintain power. The ongoing legal battles and expenses related to Trump and his associates continue to unfold, with Save America playing a significant role in funding legal representation. The extent of financial support to other co-defendants in Georgia or Arizona remains unclear, as neither Save America nor Trump’s campaign has responded to inquiries.
