A recent KARE 11/MPR News/Star Tribune Minnesota Poll revealed that the upcoming 2024 presidential election could be a closely contested race in the state. The poll showed that incumbent President Joe Biden leads former President Donald Trump in Minnesota by a margin of 44.5% to 40.6% among likely voters. Independent candidate, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., is polling at 6.4% in the state.
The poll indicated that support for the candidates largely aligns with political party lines, with Biden garnering strong support from Democrats and Trump from Republicans. Independent voters, however, remain divided, with a significant number still undecided. The poll also showed differences in candidate support based on factors such as age, education level, and race.
When it comes to top issues for voters, democracy and jobs/economy emerged as the most important, followed by immigration, crime, and healthcare. The poll also looked at approval ratings for Biden, Trump, and Senator Amy Klobuchar, showing varying levels of support and disapproval among different demographic groups in Minnesota.
The poll, conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy, interviewed 800 registered voters in Minnesota and had a margin of error of ± 3.5 percentage points. The results highlight the competitive nature of the upcoming presidential election in Minnesota and provide insights into voter preferences and key issues driving their decisions.
