A recent KARE 11/MPR News/Star Tribune Minnesota Poll asked voters in the state about unique issues facing the 2024 presidential election. With both major party candidates over the age of 75, concerns about age were raised. A majority of Minnesota voters believe both Joe Biden and Donald Trump are too old for the job, with more Republicans and independents expressing concerns about Joe Biden’s age. Additionally, the poll addressed Trump’s recent felony conviction, with a majority of respondents believing he received a fair trial. However, opinions were divided on whether a convicted felon should be eligible for the presidency. Regarding the legitimacy of the 2020 election, most voters in Minnesota believe President Biden’s win was legitimate, though a portion of Republicans continue to claim it was stolen, despite lack of evidence. The poll was conducted using telephone interviews with 800 registered voters in Minnesota and has a margin of error of ± 3.5 percentage points. As the election season ramps up, these issues will continue to be at the forefront of voter discussions as they consider their choices for the next president.
