Former President Trump is ramping up his presence in two traditionally blue states, Virginia and Minnesota, as the 2024 presidential election approaches. Opening a total of 19 field offices in the two states, Trump aims to make them competitive in the upcoming election.
The Trump campaign has confirmed plans to establish 8 offices in Minnesota and 11 in Virginia, with staff already hired to manage operations. Collateral materials are set to arrive early July, and the campaign is actively recruiting and training volunteers to support the former president’s bid for reelection.
Internal surveys presented at a recent RNC retreat showed promising data for Trump in both states, indicating that Virginia and Minnesota are “clearly in play” for the former president. Recent polling also suggests a close race in both states, with Trump within striking distance of President Biden.
While Virginia hasn’t seen a Republican presidential victory in two decades, recent polls show a tie between Trump and Biden in the state. On the other hand, Minnesota, where a Republican hasn’t won since 1972, is also shaping up to be a competitive battleground.
Trump’s expansion into these states comes as part of his larger strategy to flip key electoral votes in his favor and expand the 2024 electoral map. The Biden campaign has acknowledged the effort, stating that they are prepared to compete for these crucial states as well. This move sets the stage for a heated battle in the upcoming election as both campaigns vie for support in traditionally blue territory.
